グレン・グールド プロフィール wikipedia

グレン・グールド(Glenn Herbert Gould, 1932年9月25日 - 1982年10月4日)は、カナダのトロントで生まれたピアニストである。
1945年にオルガン奏者としてデビューし、1946年に行われたトロント交響楽団との共演でピアニストの人生をスタートさせた。1956年に初のアルバムであるバッハの「ゴルトベルク変奏曲」を発売し、世界的なピアニストの地位を確立した。
従来の聴衆との関係性や演奏の一回性への疑問を主張し、1964年3月28日のシカゴ・リサイタルを最後にコンサート活動からは一切手を引いた。それから没年までレコード録音及びラジオ、テレビなどの放送媒体のみを音楽活動の場とした。1981年に再録されたバッハの「ゴルトベルク変奏曲」は彼の最晩年の傑作と評されている。1982年10月4日、脳卒中により死去。享年50。
